Native Plants - Wild Flowers
The native plants in our webshop are native to the Netherlands. This is because we work from the Netherlands and have our nursery there. However, many of the plants are also native to our neighbouring countries. Native Dutch wild plants officially only include plants that have always been found or occur in the wild in the Netherlands. There are also naturalised plants. These are plants that are not originally native to the Netherlands, but have been established for centuries. They can survive and reproduce spontaneously in the Netherlands. We also include these plants among the native plants in our shop.Native wild plants increase the diversity of species in your garden. They are a source of food for beetles, bees, butterflies and many other insects. Some insects are even dependent on one or a few species of native plants. If these plant species are no longer present, there is a risk that these insects will also disappear.
By using native plants in your garden, you are helping to preserve the wildlife in your neighbourhood!
A major advantage of native wild plants is that they are often more resistant to extreme weather conditions and diseases than cultivated plants. They also require less attention in the garden and usually do not need additional fertilisation.
Native wild plants combine well with cultivated plants. Just make sure that you choose cultivated plants with a natural appearance and unfilled flowers. With a good mix of plants, you can enjoy flowering plants almost all year round.
Enjoy the beauty of native plants and the insect species they attract!
