Autumn Crocus  (Colchicum)

Autumn Crocus (Colchicum) is a plant that flowers like a crocus, but in the autumn. During flowering Autumn Crocus has no foliage; this does not appear until spring. Autumn Crocus prefers a spot in the sun to half shade. The soil must be normal to slightly moist. In these conditions Autumn Crocus can spread nicely. It is possible to buy the bulbs in bud and just lay them in the window or on a table. They will flower happily without being in the soil, just make sure you plant them in the garden direct after the flowers dye back. We do not sell Autumn Crocus as dry bulbs but potted in pots. Autumn Crocus is poisonous.
