Monkeyflower  (Mimulus)

Monkeyflower (Mimulus) has eye catching flowers with resemble those of Antirrhinum. Monkeyflower likes a spot in a sunny to lightly shaded spot in normal to moist soil, for instance alongside the pond. It is a long flowering plant which makes it suitable as a pot plant on the patio. An added advantage here is that you then can winter the plant frost free as it is not fully hardy. If planted Monkeyflower in the garden ensure a good covering of leaves and twigs are in place for the winter. Luckily, Monkeyflower often self-seeds as well. Nice partners for alongside water are Marsh Marigold (Caltha), Sweet Flag (Acorus) and Campion (Silene).
