Hound's Tongue

Hound's Tongue  (Cynoglossum)

Hound's Tongue (Cynoglossum) has rough foliage and bright blue flowers. They are plants for in half shade and in fresh, humus rich soil which has some lime in it. If in the right location, Hound's Tongue will happily self-seed, which is good as they are not long living plants. Hound's Tongue is quite unknown which is a shame as because of its beautiful colour it is a valued plant for in the border. Plant next to plants with strong stems so that Hound's Tongue can weave its way between them, such as Helen's Flower (Helenium) or Goldenrod (Solidago).
