Pink Scarlets  (Petrorhagia)

Pink Scarlets (Petrorhagia) is a genus of annual and perennial plants. The have small flowers, shaped somewhere between Carnation (Dianthus) and Baby's Breath (Gypsophila paniculata). Pink Scarlets likes a spot in the sun in well-draining, slight alkaline soil. It makes for a good rockery plant. In the right place, Pink Scarlets will self-seed. These plants also do well in pots and troughs as long as drainage is good. After flowering, cut Pink Scarlets back a bit to keep them nice and bushy. This might also stimulate a second flowering. Pink Scarlets combines nice with Alpine Calamint (Acinos), Everlasting (Antennaria), Alpine Aster (Aster alpinus) and low growing Bellflower (Campanula).
