Mint Shrub  (Elsholtzia)

The genus Mint Shrub consists of semi-shrubs mainly from Asia. Only a few species are cultivated. Many species of Mint Shrub flower in late summer and autumn with beautiful flower panicles. They are great bee plants. Both the flowers and the leaves smell like mint. The leaves of Mint Shrub stauntonii can be used to make tea or dried as a kitchen herb. Mint Shrub tolerates drought and sea breezes reasonably well. In the garden, Mint Shrub combines well with Mediterranean plants.
