Mayweed

Mayweed  (Matricaria)

Mayweed (Matricaria) belongs to a group of plants of which there is some unclarity about the proper names within this group. They are plants which form mats of very fine leaves and small daisy like flowers. Mayweed wants a spot in the sun in dry to normal soil which may be quite poor. Mayweed is well suited to the rockery but, because of the way it grows, also as under planting of taller ornamental grasses such as Small Reed (Calamagrostis) and Marram Grass (Ammophila).
