Cock's Foot  (Dactylis)

Cock's Foot (Dactylis) is a genus of clump forming grasses. The species 'glomerata' is very common in Europe and will grow just about anywhere. For use in the garden some variegated varieties have been grown. They look good, for instance, along the edge of a woodland garden. Cock's Foot prefers sun or half shade in a dry to normal soil. If your Cock's Foot starts looking a bit messy in the summer, just cut it back to approx. 10 cm.
