Matgrass (Nardus)

Matgrass (Nardus) is a genus of grass with only one species, Nardus stricta. This genus can still be found throughout Europe, but is often quite rare and a protected species. Matgrass forms a nice upright clump. The stiff leaves are rolled up and pointed, which ensures this grass is not eaten by cattle or sheep. Matgrass likes a spot in the sun in a normal to dry soil which contains little lime. Also, be aware to not fertilize too much.
