Sempervivum - Houseleek

Sempervivum is a genus of ever green succulent plants. They are beautifully symmetrical in shape and have nice colours. Sempervivum is perfect for in the rockery, troughs, dishes or pots. The withstand drought and sun perfectly. Be aware of too much moisture in the winter. Plant Sempervivum in sandy soil with plenty of drainage. Sempervivum displays its best colours in spring. Outside this period, they are often greener and more mat in colour. Most varieties we sell are grown in the green house. Because of the greenhouse glass the Sempervivum plants may initially look a bit paler, but this will disappear once they are planted outside. It is nice to plant different colours of Sempervivum together or plant them near Thymus, low growing Sedum or Festuca glauca.
