Gum

Gum  (Eucalyptus)

Gum (or Gumtree) is a genus of strong, often fast-growing trees and shrubs that originate from Australia. They are known for their aromatic leaves. Gum thrives best in a sunny spot with well-drained, slightly moist to dry soil. In cool or windy areas, Gum needs some protection in winter, especially when young. Gum flowers are usually creamy white, but it takes several years for them to appear. The flowers attract many insects. Their greyish leaves contrast beautifully with almost all flowering perennials. If Gum becomes too large, it can be pruned. This should be done in early spring.
