General information about Monkshood (Aconitum):Monkshood (Aconitum) is a plant that used to be used a lot in the medical care. Not without risk, as the plant is poisonous! Monkshood is easily recognizable by its flowers, they look like a monks hood. They have a similar way of growth and foliage as Larkspur (Delphinium). Monkshood likes moist soil and a sheltered position. A bit of shade during the hottest part of the day is also appreciated. Good neighbours for Monkshood are for example Baneberry (Actaea), Mountain Fleece (Persicaria amplexicaulis) and Astilbe (Astilbe).Northern Wolf's Bane - Aconitum vulparia
