Agastache

Agastache - Giant Hyssop

Agastaches are strong upright plants with angular stems and lancet shaped, toothed foliage. The many species and cultivars have many colours. They can smell like Fennel and Anise. Agastache is drought tolerant and does not like wet feet in the winter. Some species of Agastache flower so profusely that they hardly form new shoots for the next year. Cut these ones well back in September. Butterflies and other insects loves Agastache. Good neighbours for a colourful display are Achillea, Helenium, Leucanthemum and Kniphofia.
