Alopecurus - Foxtail Grass

The genus Alopecurus consists of both annual and perennial grasses. Used in gardens are mainly the perennial Alopecurus with yellow variegated leaves. Alopecurus forms tufts of flat leaves and long flower-stems resembling a fox's tail. To keep the plants healthy, it is recommended to split these every couple of years. Alopecurus grows happily in most soils, preferably in the sun, but is not choosy.
