General information about Marsh Mallow (Althaea):
Marsh Mallow (Althaea) looks a lot like Hollyhock and Mallow (Malva). There is regular changing of names between these. Marsh Mallow has smaller flowers and foliage than Hollyhock. The foliage of Marsh Mallow is also hairier and it produces often more than one flowering stem. The root of Marsh Mallow is used in the traditional recipe for marshmallow. Marsh Mallow likes a position in the sun, in good soil, normal to moist. A good plant for in a border or a wild garden.
