General information about Beardgrass (Andropogon):
Beardgrass (Andropogon) is a grass from the warmer regions of America. Tall annual or perennial grasses with spike like racemes. The leaves of Beardgrass can have a red or purple/blue sheen over them and turn to stunning reds in autumn. The flowers of Beardgrass are striking, with large hanging pollen buds. The plant prefers a place in the full sun and in poorish soil. Otherwise the plant will fall over. Beardgrass is a must in a prairie garden.
