Apios

Apios - American Groundnut

Apios is a genus of climbers. They die back at the end of the season but the tubers are hardy and will send out fresh shoots in spring. Apios prefers a sunny position where they can show off their unusual flower shape and colour. The common name of Apios is American Groundnut. This indicates where the plants originate from and that the tubers are edible.
