Arctostaphylos - Bearberry

Arctostaphylos is a genus of evergreen shrubs or small trees. They are tough plants for moist, well-draining non-alkaline soil. Arctostaphylos carries berries in autumn which are poisonous to humans but not for birds. The common name is Bearberry, as apparently bears are very fond of these berries. So,.. beware when you plant Arctostaphylos in your garden!
