General information about False Oat Grass (Arrhenatherum):False Oat Grass (Arrhenatherum) is a low growing ornamental grass of which the variegated variety is nice. It grows best in a sunny to light shaded position in somewhat alkaline soil and is quite drought tolerant. False Oat Grass forms tuber like growths at the base of the leaf stems. These can be used to plant up again in a different position. If the foliage dries and doesn't look good in the summer, just cut back and the False Oat Grass will soon produce fresh foliage again. If the soil is not too dry, you can create a nice contrast of foliage with Elephant's Ears (Bergenia).Tuber Oat Grass - Arrhenatherum bulbosum 'Variegatum'
