Baby’s Tears

Baby’s Tears  (Soleirolia)

The genus Baby’s Tears (Soleirolia) has only 1 species; Soleirolia soleirolii. It’s a low creeping plant that is often kept as a houseplant, but Baby’s Tears also does well in a sheltered place in the garden, for example under ferns. Baby’s Tears likes a spot in (semi) shade. The soil may be normal to slightly moist. Baby’s Tears is not very hardy, but you can try it outside with a layer of leaves as winter cover. There are cultivars of Baby’s Tears with yellow-green and gray-green foliage. The flowers of Baby’s Tears are white and hardly noticeable.
