General information about Small Reed (Calamagrostis):Small Reed (Calamagrostis) is a group of upright tall grasses which flower in summer. After that the clumps turn golden brown and stay attractive into the winter. Small Reed likes a spot in the sun, in dry to normal, not too fertile soil. Not enough sun or too much fertilizer will make for weak, arching plants. Small Reed looks great planted as a solitary plant. Why not plant a group of 3 or 5 plants in the flower border to create a vertical accent next to Beebalm (Monarda), Coneflower (Echinacea), Aster (Aster), Giant Hyssop (Agastache) and Goldenrod (Solidago).Bluejoint - Calamagrostis canadensis
