Caraway

Caraway  (Carum)

Caraway (Carum) Lily is a genus of annual, bi-annual or perennial plants. The species 'carvi', the most well-known, is bi-annual. Usually the plant will self-seed enough to ensure an annual presence. They produce flat umbels of white flowers on hollow, branched stems. The seed of Caraway Lily smells nice when crushed and can be used in the kitchen. Also the fresh young green foliage can be used in soups and salads. Caraway Lily requires a fertile soil in a sunny position. Caraway Lily looks good in the herb garden but also in a wild flower meadow.
