General information about Giant Lily (Cardiocrinum):Giant Lily (Cardiocrinum) is a small genus of bulbous plants from Asia, closely related to Lily (Lilium). They grow in moist forests in the (semi) shade. Before planting, loosen the soil well and apply crushed stone to the bottom of the planting hole, because the roots of Giant Lily are sensitive to excess moisture. Provide a nutritious, humus-rich soil. After the flowering of Giant Lily, the bulb with the flowering stem dies. Often new bubbles have already formed in the meantime. In winter, cover Giant Lily with dead leaves or straw. Giant Lily sprouts early in the spring. Keep an eye out for snails, because they love the young leaves. Giant Lily may take several years to flower.Giant Himalayan Lily - Cardiocrinum giganteum
