Chain Fern

Chain Fern

Chain Fern  (Woodwardia)

Chain Fern (Woodwardia) is a small genus of large ferns, mainly from the sub-tropics. However, there are a few species which are reasonably hardy with us, especially with the help of a protective layer of leaves. Chain Fern will slowly spread by means of short underground rhizomes and eventually will form nice groups. Chain Fern prefers a spot in (half)shade in humus rich and moisture retaining soil. The soil may be slightly acidic.
