Christophskraut ist eine Pflanzengattung mit meist weißen Blüten in Ährenform. Nach der Blüte entstehen Beeren. Es gibt Christophskraut-Arten, die im Frühjahr blühen, und Arten, die im Spätsommer und Herbst blühen. Viele Christophskraut-Arten besitzen einen angenehmen Duft. Die Pflanzen eignen sich für einen kühlen, humosen Boden. Dem Christophskraut gefällt es im Halbschatten auf normalem bis leicht feuchtem Boden. Es gibt auch Arten mit einem schönen dunklen Blatt. Gute Nachbarpflanzen sind z. B. Kerzenknöterich (Persicaria amplexicaulis), Eisenhut (Aconitum) und Prachtspiere (Astilbe).
