Chrysopogon

Chrysopogon - Golden False Beardgrass

Chrysopogon is a genus of grasses from the (sub)tropics. For a grass, Chrysopogon has an unusual flower with nice golden yellow stamen. In a dry and warm spot, the plant will show nice autumn colour. Plant Chrysopogon in the full sun in normal to moist soil. The plant will collapse if too wet or in too fertile soil. Chrysopogon is an excellent plant for in a prairie garden. Good neighbour plants for Chrysopogon are Aster, tall Phlox, Monarda, Achillea and Helianthus. The panicles of Chrysopogon are loved by flower arrangers.
