Colocasia - Taro

Colocasia is an edible tuber from the tropics. Annually, millions of tons are produced, mainly in Asia. In recipes the plant is often called Taro. Supermarkets sometimes sell Taro chips. Colocasia is used in gardens because of its exotic foliage, available in varying colours. Colocasia looks good in a large pot on the terrace. Make sure the plant does not dry out and feed regularly. In its native habitat Colocasia grows in boggy, rich soil. In winter you could bring the plant indoors in a light position and reduce watering.
