Japanese Shrub Mint (Comanthosphace) is a shrub-like plant suited for the border. They prefer a sheltered position in half shade in normal soil. In hard winters it is recommended to cover them with a layer of leaves. The flowers of Japanese Shrub Mint looks a bit like those of buddleia, just slightly smaller. There are cultivars of Japanese Shrub Mint which are mainly grown for their yellowy-green foliage.
