General information about Sea Kale (Crambe):
A flowering Sea Kale (Crambe) leaves you with an unforgettable impression. A large cloud of small, beautifully scented flowers which attract a mass of insects. Because Sea Kale roots deeply, it is a drought resistant plant. It may take a few years before the first flowers appear. Sea Kale likes slight alkaline soil. If you do not have this, give it a hand full of chalk in autumn. The species 'maritima' does well in gardens along the coast. Try combining Sea Kale with grey leaved grasses like Lyme Grass (Leymus), Oat Grass (Helictotrichon) and Marram Grass (Ammophila).
