Dictamnus

Dictamnus - Burning Bush

Dictamnus is an erect plant for in a warm spot in quite dry, alkaline soil. The plant excretes a glue-like oil to which some people might be allergic. The oil has an herb-like fresh scent. On a warm, still summers day you can ignite this oil, which explains the common name of Dictamnus; Burning Bush. Dictamnus can be a bit slow to establish. Give Dictamnus some space. Once established, it will grow fuller and fuller each year. Dictamnus does not like being re-planted. Good partners are Iris germanica and Origanum.
