General information about Foxglove (Digitalis) (Digitalis):Foxglove (Digitalis) is a genus of bi- and perennial, erect plants. Even after flowering the plants are still decorative in the garden. They often self-seed but then usually do not come true to colour. Foxglove is very good for in the wild garden. They like some lime in the soil and do not want wet feet in the winter. The species 'purpurea' is bi-annual and will die after flowering. The species of Foxglove with yellow/brown flowers will usually live for 3 years. Cutting well back after flowering will stimulate the forming of new shoots and prolong the plants life. Foxglove was used to treat irregular heart beat in humans. Using this medical property wrongly can be fatal.Foxglove - Digitalis 'Spice Island'
