General information about Globe Thistle (Echinops):
Globe Thistle (Echinops) is a genus of strong thistle-like plants with greyish foliage and flowers in the shape of a sphere. They are excellent cut flowers, both fresh or dried. Globe Thistle attracts a whole host of insects. Even after finishing with flowering, the flowers are still attractive for a long time. Globe Thistle requires a place in the full sun in dry to medium soil which should not be too fertile. If you wish to transplant Globe Thistle make sure not to leave any bits of root behind as these will grow into new plants again. If you are looking for good neighbour plants for Globe Thistle, try Mullein (Verbascum), Yarrow (Achillea), Feather Grass (Stipa) and Coneflower (Echinacea).
