Elfenblume  (Epimedium)

Elfenblume ist eine Gattung robuster Stauden für Halbschatten und Schatten. Im Frühjahr schweben die Blüten wie filigrane Elfen über dem Blatt. Um dies gut sehen zu können, sollten Sie am besten die alten Blätter wegschneiden, bevor die Blütenstiele sichtbar werden. Die Elfenblume kann aber mit ihrem Blatt auch gut als Bodendecker dienen. Manche Arten haben bronzefarbenes oder rotes Laub, das abgeworfen wird, während andere ihr schön gefärbtes Blatt auch im Winter behalten. Die Elfenblume kann verhältnismäßig viel Trockenheit vertragen. Die besten Bodendecker für trockene Stellen sind Epimedium perralchicum 'Frohnleiten' und Epimedium rubrum. Sie können die Elfenblume gut mit u. a. niedrig bleibenden Farnen, Kaukasusvergissmeinnicht (Brunnera) und Lungenkraut (Pulmonaria) kombinieren.
