General information about Willow Herb (Epilobium):
Willow Herbs (Epilobium) are plants you can see in the wild in large groups, often on disturbed land or along the forest edge. There are a few nice varieties of Willow Herb specifically grown for in the garden. Willow Herbs prefer a spot in the sun or half shade in a normal soil, but they are really not fussy. Willow Herbs forms nice seed pods which, when ripe, will explode to the touch and spread their seeds. If you do not want Willow Herb to self-seed, cut the plant back as soon as the seedpods develop. Willow Herb is very suited to the wild garden, combined with Peach-Leaved Bellflower (Campanula persicifolia), Yellow Loosestrife (Lysimachia punctata) and Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica).
