Eragrostis

Eragrostis - Love Grass

Many species of Eragrostis originate from the tropics and sub tropics. The grow very well in our climate as long as they are planted in an open, sunny space which is not too wet in winter. Eragrostis can show beautiful autumn colours. If the position is favourable, Eragrostis can self-seed, which is good as they usually only live for a few years. If you do not want this make sure you cut away the pinnacles in good time. If you do this properly, you will end up with tidy nice clumps. A nice combination is planting Eryngium, Aster and Euphorbia next to Eragrostis.
