General information about Wallflower (Erysimum):Wallflower (Erysimum) is a perennial for in a dry and sheltered spot, in the full sun and light soil. Wallflower is not fully hardy with us and often will die in winter because of too much water. Therefore, plant in well-draining soil and cover the plants with a layer of leaves in winter. Even though Wallflower will not live for many years it is still a grateful plant. After flowering, cut Wallflower back by one-third to keep a compact shape. The plant will quickly produce a second flush of flowers. Wallflower also does well in pots and troughs. An advantage with this is that they are easier over wintered frost free and dry. There are many different colours available. A nice contrast is to plant grey leaved Mugwort (Artemisia) next to Wallflower.Wallflower - Erysimum 'Bowles Mauve'
