Eucalyptus - Gum

Eucalyptus is a genus of strong, often fast-growing trees and shrubs that originate from Australia. They are known for their aromatic leaves. Eucalyptus thrives best in a sunny spot with well-drained, slightly moist to dry soil. In cool or windy areas, Eucalyptus needs some protection in winter, especially when young. Eucalyptus flowers are usually creamy white, but it takes several years for them to appear. The flowers attract many insects. Their greyish leaves contrast beautifully with almost all flowering perennials. If Eucalyptus becomes too large, it can be pruned. This should be done in early spring.
