False Lupin

False Lupin  (Thermopsis)

False Lupin (Thermopsis) is a genus of plants with Lupin-like flowers. After flowering, pea pod shaped fruit are formed. It are strong plants who like a spot in the sun. The soil has to be dry to normal moist and not be too fertile, otherwise the plant will fall over. False Lupin can be used in the natural garden or in the border. For in the natural garden the species 'lanceolate' is best suited as it will steadily spread through rhizomes. You can always install a root barrier. Good neighbour plants for False Lupin are Catmint (Nepeta), Scabious (Knautia), Bee Blossom (Gaura) and Cornflower (Centaurea).
