Fritillaria

Fritillaria - Fritillary

Fritillaria is a genus of bulbous perennials in a range of sizes. We sell the smaller species such as Fritillaria meleagris. This species has a typical pattern of squares on its hanging flowers. In spring, Fritillaria wants a reasonably moist soil, but then in summer and winter not too moist. A bit of fertilizer after flowering is appreciated. A fresh helping of some compost will suffice. During the summer Fritillaria will die back above ground only to reappear in spring. Fritillaria is good for in the natural garden and combines well with Ranunculus, Ajuga and Anemone nemorosa.
