General information about Summer Hyacinth (Galtonia):
Summer Hyacinth (Galtonia) is a genus of bulbous perennials from South Africa. With us they are not quite fully hardy and best is to cover them in winter with a pack of leaves. Also planting them about 10 cm deeper than other bulbs will help. Summer Hyacinth is related to the Hyacinth and a beautiful plant for in the border or in a pot. Because of its quiet colour Summer Hyacinth will combine well with loads of plants such as Catmint (Nepeta) or Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla). Summer Hyacinth wants a normal soil and sun or half shade.
