Gamander

Gamander  (Teucrium)

General information about Germander (Teucrium):
Germander (Teucrium) is a varied genus of ever green and deciduous (half) shrubs and perennials. Some have scented flowers and leaves. Germander attracts a lot of insects, especially Caucasian Germander (Teucrium hyrcanicum). This species is a perfect border plant, next to for example Yarrow (Achillea), Goldenrod (Solidago) and Cranesbill (Geranium). The lower species are better suited as ground covers, edge plant or as small hedge. There, they will combine nicely with plants with grey leaves such as Cheddar Pink (Dianthus gratianopolitanus), Lamb's Ear (Stachys byzantina) and low growing Mugwort (Artemisia). Germander likes a spot in the sun to light shade in a normal to dry soil, preferably with some lime.
