Ginger Orchid

Ginger Orchid  (Roscoea)

Ginger Orchid (Roscoea) has tubers which must be planted at least 10 cm depth. Plant the plants from the pots deeper than what you normally would and cover them with a good layer of leaves in the first winter. After that, only do so in severe winters. Ginger Orchid has upright leaves and orchid-like flowers. Plant Ginger Orchid in the sun or half shade in slight moist soil. Try avoiding to much moisture in winter. Ginger Orchid likes a hand full of compost in spring. If growth stagnates after a few years, dig Ginger Orchid up, improve the soil and re-plant again.
