Golden Alexanders (Zizia) is a small genus of yellow umbel forming plants. Golden Alexanders is unknown with most gardeners. This is a shame because they are very useful because of their early flowering properties. Also in the natural prairie garden Golden Alexanders looks good. They are strong plants which attract many insects. Golden Alexanders is an easy plant, a spot in the sun or half shade in normal soil is fine. Golden Alexanders is not a long living plant, but if you do not remove the dead flower stems the plant will self-seed easily.
