Golden False Beardgrass  (Chrysopogon)

Golden False Beardgrass (Chrysopogon) is a genus of grasses from the (sub)tropics. For a grass, Golden False Beardgrass has an unusual flower with nice golden yellow stamen. In a dry and warm spot, the plant will show nice autumn colour. Plant Golden False Beardgrass in the full sun in normal to moist soil. The plant will collapse if too wet or in too fertile soil. Golden False Beardgrass is an excellent plant for in a prairie garden. Good neighbour plants for Golden False Beardgrass are Aster (Aster), tall Phlox (Phlox), Beebalm (Monarda), Yarrow (Achillea) and Sunflower (Helianthus). The panicles of Golden False Beardgrass are loved by flower arrangers.
