General information about Oregano (Origanum):
Oregano (Origanum) is an herb-like plant for in the full sun in normal to moist, well-draining soil. Oregano we know best for its use in the kitchen, but some species are being grown because of their foliage or flowers. For use in the kitchen, Wild Oregano is best. In the right conditions, Oregano can spread vigorously by means of rhizomes or self-seeding. The species 'rotundifolium' has flowers that look like a hop-bell or shrimp.
