Hawkweed

Hawkweed  (Hieracium)

Hawkweed (Hieracium) belongs to a genus of flowers which look like the ends of their petals have been cut off with a pair of scissors. Hawkweed is a ground covering perennial for a dry, sunny position. The varieties with variegated leaves like some shade. The plants spread through its runners and will form a nice mat. Hawkweed is happy, they can self-seed. Keep an eye on this and cut out the flowers if you so wish. Hawkweed is good for in the rockery, combined with low Stonecrop (Sedum), Bellflower (Campanula) and Thyme (Thymus).
