It is good to add some fresh compost annually. Sunflower looks good in a country or natural garden where it will also attract lots of butterflies. For those gardeners who do not like bright yellows, there are also cultivars in cream. Combine Sunflower with tall Asters (Aster), Culver's Root (Veronicastrum), Maiden Grass (Miscanthus) and Plume Poppy (Macleaya).
