General information about Liverleaf (Hepatica):
Liverleafs (Hepatica) are early flowering perennials for in the shade. The flowers resemble those of Anemone a bit. Liverleaf prefers an alkaline, moist and humus rich soil. Liverleaf likes some sun early in the year but not later in the year. Therefore, plant them under deciduous shrubs or in woodland. It will take a few years before they form a nice group. The best growing of all the species is Hepatica nobilis, which can still be found in the wild. Liverleaf looks good planted with other spring flowering plants such as Primrose (Primula), Hellebore (Helleborus), Hardy Cyclamen (Cyclamen) and Snowdrop (Galanthus). Also Spleenwort (Asplenium) looks good next to Liverleaf.
