General information about Dame's Violet (Hesperis):
Dame's Violet (Hesperis) is a plant with lovely scented flowers, especially in the evenings. If you want to cut them for in a vase, do not cut them till the evening. Dame's Violet prefers a spot in the sun in normal to moist, fertile soil. Dame's Violet is a perfect cottage garden where they can self-seed. This is just as well as Dame's Violet often will only live for a few years.
