General information about Hosta (Hosta):Hosta (Hosta) is a genus of plants mainly planted because of their varied foliage. The flowers of Hosta are white or mauve. The varieties with white flowers often have a nice scent. Most Hosta's do well in (half)shade although some will tolerate more sun as long as the soil is moist. Hosta's are nice plants which over the years will form a nice clump. Do you have a sitting area in the shade? Why not have a collection of Hosta's in pots. Hosta's combine well with other shade loving foliage plants such as ferns, Japanese Forest Grass (Hakonechloa), Bugle (Ajuga), Great Forget-me-not (Brunnera) and Dead Nettle (Lamium). The only disadvantage of Hosta's is that slugs and snails also love them! They will devour them within no time, especially those with softer leaves. The varieties of Hosta with thick grey leaves are least attractive to them. Spread Eco friendly slug pellets around the plants early in spring.Hosta - Hosta 'Snake Eyes'
